Health Related Absence Nurse

Hello, my name is Zoe Henderson and I am the NHS School Health Nurse for Newbridge Junior School.

The aim of the HRA nurse is to provide support to children and their families with illness and health complaints that could prevent them from going to school. I hope that by providing public health advice and working in close partnership with families and the school, the HRA service can reduce the length and frequency of these illnesses and school absences.

I will also be holding a weekly drop in session for parents to offer advice on health concerns including; sleeping, toileting and diet.

Zoe will be available on a weekly basis (Thursday Mornings) here at The Newbridge Junior School to give information and advice on health issues which may be preventing your child from attending school.

If we cannot help, we will find someone who can. We work closely with other professionals and school staff to support you to be both physically and emotionally healthy, make informed healthy lifestyle choices, improve physical and emotional health, and to reach your full potential.

There is a proven link between attendance and achievement and we look forward to working in partnership with families and the academy in order to help your child achieve their full potential.

To make an appointment you can contact the school office on 0333 360 2190.

The school nursing service is not an emergency service. If you or a friend need immediate nursing or medical help, please contact a member of staff on site who will locate a member of staff trained in first aid. If you are off site in the case of an emergency, please call 999 or visit your GP in the usual way.

Confidentiality: The School Nursing service is confidential.  This means you can discuss personal information with us and we will not discuss it with anyone else without your permission, unless we feel that you or another may be at risk of harm. If information needs to be shared we will always try to discuss this with you first so that you know why, and what will happen.
