Plastic Free Day 2019

Plastic Free Day 2019

On Wednesday 8th May, Newbridge Junior School took part in Plastic Free Day in honour of Sir David Attenborough’s 93rd birthday. The children spent the day discussing the importance of reducing single-use plastic waste and creating posters on how we can action this. Along with this, the classes took part in a Plastic Weigh-off where each class weighed their plastic rubbish at the end of the previous day and then again at the end of Plastic Free Day. Overall, the classes managed to reduce their plastic waste from 1.62kg to 420g- a whopping 1.2kg reduction in total! We are really proud of the children for taking this topic to heart and hope to see a lot less single-use plastic waste going forward.
