Boom!

Year 5 are learning about volcanoes and earthquakes this half term! To start this topic off, the children built their own volcanoes in class and then set them off in the playground, with the magic final ingredient- vinegar! Below is a summary from Darcey Casey on her take on the day:

We did an introduction for our new topic, which is volcanoes. We learned lots of new interesting facts about volcanoes, some we didn’t know and some we did. We learned all about the most dangerous volcanoes and where they are in the world. Also, we found out why and how volcanoes erupt. In the afternoon, we worked together in small groups to create our own volcanoes and used some ingredients to make them erupt. Personally, I have really enjoyed our topic so far and I really can’t wait for what is to come.
