On Thursday 12th October, Year 6 had the privilege of speaking with a real life WW2 veteran. George was an engineer in the war and worked on maintaining the airplane engines of Spitfires and Hurricanes. George is currently 95 years old but joined the army when he was 18. He had 5 best friends during the war, however, some of them sadly didn’t make it through to the end. George said that the war was terrible and that his best memory was when the war ended. We really enjoyed being able to speak with George and learn about the war from someone who was actually there!
