Fourteen children from years 4 and 5 performed their Taiko drums on the stage in front of a packed Portsmouth Guildhall on June 15th. They gave an amazing flawless performance with such courage. They were fantastic ambassadors for our school – well done to them all.
The performance was part of an event organised by Portsmouth Music Hub on BBC Music day, to attempt to break the World Record for the largest Djembe drum ensemble. Newbridge joined other children from across Portsmouth so that in total there were 1000 people in the Guildhall, all playing the same piece together – what an amazing sound we made!
The morning ended with all the schools gathered on the Guildhall steps for some more drumming and to hear that we had broken the World Record for the Largest Djembe drum ensemble – 1000 people!
